Movement organizers across the US are gearing-up for Peoples Movement Assemblies in 2012. Twenty-six PMA organizers joined a call at the end of 2011 and shared updates and visions for how Peoples Movement Assemblies will be used to build movement power in the year ahead. PMA events include assemblies on queer and LGBT issues, incarcerated people, ending poverty, Palestine solidarity, education, elders, Occupy groups, and many local issues around the country. Queer PMA at the Creating Change Conference – Hundreds of Queer organizers attended this national conference to strategically shift from a focus on Gay Rights in relation to Marriage and the Military to a broader strategy of Queer Liberation. Click here for more
Formerly Incarcerated Peoples Movement – This national movement has been built through several PMAs and is currently focusing on organizing families of incarcerated people against inhumane prison conditions and to vote on behalf of family members who are barred from voting in 2012 Elections. Assemblies to Build a Peoples Economy – Grassroots Global Justice is planning three PMAs to build awareness and momentum towards NATO and G8 summit meetings in Chicago in May 2012. Click here for more
Palestinian Movement Assemblies – Assemblies have been organized in Palestinian diaspora communities across the US, following the lead of youth in Palestine to build power for reclamation of a national movement to represent Palestinians world-wide. Chicago LGBTQ Assemblies – Multiple assemblies in different Chicago neighborhoods will be held to discuss different community issues, including triggers of violence towards members of the LGBTQ community. Click here for more
Progressive Technology Assembly – Techies and movement organizers are developing an assembly to bring together progressive technologists and movement organizers to shift control of technology development into the hands of the movement. Click here for more

Southern Movement Assemblies – Spring and Summer organizing drives are being led by Project South to build agendas based on local fights at the ballot box. The PMA process will also be used to build movement beyond electoral politics. Click here for more
Virginia Peoples Assembly – This event has been happening for four years as a networking session and rally for many Virginia community groups. This year they introduced the PMA process and called for a Virginia Peoples Movement Assembly to be organized in the summer of 2012. Click here for more
Southwest PMA Organizing Drive – A 2012 tour plans to use PMAs as a tool to build power in the Southwest and to organize a movement coordinating body in the region. Click here for more
Occupy Wall Street – PMA organizers have been introducing the PMA Organizing Toolkit to organizers and facilitators in Occupy Wall Street general assemblies and are looking for opportunities to use this tool as the movement evolves. Click here for more
