Detroit has very few bookstores and no community film theatre. The progressive library and community film theatre would be a collaboratively run progressive resource run by Women of Color Detroit, Inc. Please bring your favorite progressive book that inspired you to make the world a better place. Our goal is to collect 10,000 progressive books.
The US Social Forum in collaboration with King Solomon Church, The Hub and BikeIt are collecting donations of bicycles and bicycle parts, tools, helmets, and locks for participant use at the Social Forum so that transportation to and from Cobo Hall, Wayne State, and other areas of the city are easily and cheaply accessible. When the Forum is over, the bicycles and tools will be passed over to the Detroiters that want and need them. Interested churches, community centers, youth groups, and/or small businesses will use the bicycles and grow the city’s capacity and interest in bicycle transportation. Our goal is to collect 5,000 bikes and accessories.
During the Forum we will be building several computers in the People’s Media Center in Cobo Hall. Please bring your good technology or mail, so we can coordinate early! This can include working computers/laptops, monitors, keyboards, mice, video and still cameras, mixers, microphones, audio recorders, filming equipment, external HD & SD cards, power strips, ethernet cables and USB cords. Our goal is to collect 1,000 computers and build 10 media centers throughout Detroit.
Bring in or send just one buck to help build infrastructure for the above mentioned projects. Our goal is to raise $10,000.
