USSF Vision Village

The USSF Vision Village will be erected in a grassy area along the Detroit River, about four blocks from Cobo Hall.

Community groups, unions and social movement organizations are sponsoring canopies at the USSF Village for self-organized workshops, meetings and information sharing. For example, food justice activists from all over the country and world are joining local Detroit activists under a Food Justice Canopy. The canopy will provide a space of convergence for the food justice community to share and coordinate during the forum.

In addition to canopies, the USSF Vision Village will offer a common area and an open stage where groups can sign up to perform. There will be shuttle service between the Village and Cobo Hall. Porta-potties will be available on the site, as well as a first aide station, water station and info kiosk.

USSF Village Logistics

-Canopies rented through USSF identified vendors (now sold out) will be erected by the contractor and available USSF participants starting at 3pm, Tuesday June 22nd. Tents will be labeled with the name of the organization that made the reservation.

-Groups that were were unable to reserve a canopy through the vendors can bring their own 20'x 20'canopy (tent) and erect it for a $50 fee. All canopies must be fire retardant and be inspected by the fire department for approval.

-No 10' x 10' canopies will be permitted, as they do not meet city standards for fire resistance.

-All self-erected canopies must be set up in the mornings.

-The USSF is a disposable-water-bottle free zone! All Village participants should bring large water containers to keep and refill from the fire hydrants.

-Security will be on duty throughout the day and night, but participants in the USSF Village are advised not to leave personal items unattended in their canopies.
